Sustainability is a very pressing issue that affects everyone. The time to act is now, because real change does not happen overnight. We have developed the "thyssenkrupp Materials Services Sustainability Manifesto" to support our goal of creating a world where resources are used in the best possible way - for our mutual success and a sustainable future.
This Manifesto sets out our ambitions as a materials services provider and highlights our clear goal: beyond green, clean, good.
Combating climate change and protecting biodiversity is a central issue for us. That's why we will be climate neutral by 2030, and we will continuously reduce all forms of pollution. We will be climate neutral 20 years earlier than previously planned, and 20 years earlier than the EU's ambitious targets. As the largest international organisation in the region, we want to contribute to and take responsibility for changing the environment in the market.
This includes increasing the use of green electricity, switching lighting to LED, photovoltaic systems and further energy efficiency measures.
We want to be our customers' first choice for the products and services they need to decarbonise their supply chains and meet their social criteria. We want to create an ecosystem of green materials suppliers in the Eastern European region and become the number one supplier of sustainable materials solutions.
To achieve this, we offer environmentally friendly services and products. We provide transparency on CO2 content; we use green steel and we are continuously working to increase the proportion of recycled products.
Being a responsible member of global society is key for our company. By promoting diversity, enriching the communities in which we live, supporting education in the region and raising social standards in our supply chain, we contribute to creating a sustainable world - for our employees, our partners and society.
We reinforce our social commitments and provide structured support to local communities. We consistently work to create a diverse culture and make it a priority to treat everyone equally.
Thyssenkrupp Materials Services Eastern Europe has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CarbonChain, a specialist carbon counting software provider, to develop an approach to tracking greenhouse gas emissions from metal production and to set standards for supplier transparency.
The two companies will jointly promote the adoption of digital solutions for tracking greenhouse gas emissions from supply chains. This project, along with other industry leaders, will also increase transparency for thyssenkrupp Materials Services Eastern Europe, providing detailed insight into supply chain carbon hotspots, product ecological footprints and mitigation opportunities.
The overall aim is to support the announced wider decarbonisation targets. Suppliers will be able to join efforts to achieve their own reporting and emission reduction targets.
Our vision of sustainability goes beyond standards. We understand sustainability in all its dimensions: ecological, social and economic. Our vision is a world in which resources are used in the best possible way - for shared success and a sustainable future.
